Rajma Recipe :  Soak kidney beans overnight. In the morning, add water and salt to a pressure cooker and let it boil until the kidney beans are cooked. Pour a teaspoon of oil into a frying pan, add chopped onions, and after 2 minutes, add chopped tomatoes and stir.

When the onion and tomato cool down, make a paste in a mixer grinder , add the paste in one tablespoon oil in a pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Now add red chilli powder, salt (salt is also added while boiling the kidney beans, so add less), garam masala, cumin, ginger garlic paste, turmeric and ground coriander and fry on low flame for 10 to 12 minutes.

Once roasted, add the kidney beans and their water, mix well (if you feel the water is insufficient or too thick, add water as needed) and let it cook for 5 minutes. In a frying pan, add dried red chilies, chopped green chilies, and cumin seeds to the oil or ghee and temper the kidney beans.

Rajma Recipe Ingredients –

  • Kidney beans 250 grams
  • 2 normal size onions
  • Tomato 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp (1/2 tsp in spices + 1/2 tsp in tempering)
  • Dried red chilies 2 to 3 (optional)
  • green chillies chopped lengthwise
  • Green coriander
  • Oil
  • Desi Ghee ( Optional )
