Let’s see how to make Dal Makhani.
First of all, wash the dal and kidney beans thoroughly and soak them for 1 to 2 hours, put the lentils and kidney beans in the cooker, add salt, pour water till the top of the lentils and apply one whistle, reduce the flame and apply another 2 to 3 whistles.
Heat desi ghee in a pan, add finely chopped onions and stir till it turns pink, add ginger garlic paste, grind tomatoes, add salt (remember, we had added salt while boiling the lentils), and add red chili powder. Keep stirring for 5 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked well. Add green coriander for flavor, now put the lentils in the tempering and mix well.
if the dal looks thick, then add a cup of hot water to it and allow it to cook, when it comes to a boil, cook on a low flame for 5 to 7 minutes. Now add dry coriander, garam masala, cumin powder and mix it well.
Take butter in a small pan, add a little red chili powder to it and temper the pulses. The amount of butter should be more because its name is Dal Makhani. At last garnish with 2 to 3 spoons of cream or fresh cream of milk and green coriander.
Your Dal Makhani is ready, you can eat it with roti, paratha or rice.

- Whole Urad Dal 1 200 grams
- Rajma 50 grams
- 2 finely chopped onions
- Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp 3
- tomatoes crushed
- salt as per taste
- Half teaspoon red chili powder
- green coriander
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Coriander powder 2 tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tsp
- Butter
- Cream 2 to 3 tbsp
- Ghee 2 tbsp
