Palak Chana Dal Recipe is an Indian dish which is made by mixing spinach and gram dal. This recipe is also beneficial for health, it contains protein, iron and calcium.

Cut and wash the spinach, wash and soak the gram dal an hour before, add soaked dal, bay leaf, cloves, small cardamom, turmeric, salt and water and cook for 2 to 3 whistles.

 

 

 

Heat oil in a pan , add cumin, asafoetida and fennel, add finely chopped onion and fry on full flame until it turns light pink, once the onion is fried, crush the garlic, finely chopped green chilli and pumpkin, grate and add ginger and mix. Fry it for 2 to 3 minutes. Now add Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, tomato, turmeric, salt (add less salt) and one spoon water and fry till the tomatoes melt.

 

 

 

Once the masala is fried, add the spinach, mix and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes, cover with a lid, add one small cup of soaked gram dal to the spinach and masala and mash it with a spoon once it is mixed well. Add all the remaining dal and if necessary add some water and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

 

 

 

 

When the desi ghee is heated in a pan , add crushed garlic, dried red chillies, green chillies cut from the middle and cumin seeds, turn it to light brown, turn off the gas, add Kashmiri red chillies and add tadka to the dal.

Ingredient –

  • Spinach 250 grams

Dal Boiled –

  • Chana dal 100 grams
  • bay leaf 1 large
  • cloves 3 to 4
  • small cardamom 2 to 3
  • turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • salt as per taste

For spices – 

  • onion 2
  • Hing 1/4 tsp 
  • Fennel 1/2 teaspoon 
  • finely chopped green chilli 2
  • Ginger small piece (grated pumpkin)
  • 4 to 5 cloves of garlic (grated pumpkin)
  • Tomato 2
  • Salt (add less)
  • turmeric 1/4 tsp 
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 tsp 
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp

For tempering –

  • Desi Ghee
  • 3 to 4 garlic cloves (grated pumpkin)
  • dried red chilli 2
  • cumin 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli 2 (cut lengthwise)
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
