Chana Dal Karela Sabzi is a very delicious veg dish in which onion, gram dal and fried bitter gourd are made by adding them to roasted spices. It is also very easy to make. It tastes delicious with roti, chapati or paratha.
Let’s see the Chana Dal Karela recipe –
Peel and cut the bitter gourd and remove the seeds from the centre and apply half a teaspoon of salt on it and keep it aside for half or one hour. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and wash the bitter gourd and make it light brown (do not make it dark brown). Remove it from the pressure cooker when it is light brown.
Cut and wash the onion, wash the gram lentils and soak them for half an hour.
Make a paste by adding water to ginger-garlic paste, salt, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, kalongi, fenugreek seeds in a small bowl. Put the spice paste in the same oil in which bitter gourd was browned and fry it on low flame.
Once the masala is roasted, add chopped onion, gram lentils and bitter gourd, along with it add one cup water and pickle masala. If pickle masala is not available then chop 2 tomatoes and add them, close the lid of the cooker and let it whistle for 3 to 4 times, open the cooker and check, if there is water then dry it on full flame.
