Sarson ka Saag is a special dish eaten in the winter season which is eaten with corn bread . Although you can eat it with wheat bread too but it has its own fun when eaten with corn bread . It is a famous dish of Punjab.

Let’s see how to make Sarson ka Saag –

 

 

 

Finely chop mustard greens and spinach and wash them.

 

 

 

Put mustard greens, spinach, salt, peeled garlic cloves and green chillies in the cooker (do not add water). Turn off the gas after 2 whistles.

 

 

 

When it cools down , grind it in a mixer grinder . When the oil is heated in the pan, add finely chopped onions.

 

 

 

When the onion turns light brown, add ginger-garlic paste and kasuri methi and stir for 3 to 4 minutes. After that add the ground spinach and mustard greens and mix well.

 

 

 

Make a paste by adding water to 2 teaspoons of corn flour and add it to the greens and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes. For tempering, take ghee in a frying pan and add asafoetida, finely chopped garlic and whole red chillies and fry till light brown.

 

 

 

Now add this seasoning to the vegetables.

Ingredient-

  • Mustard greens 500 gms
  • Spinach 200 gms
  • Green chillies 5 to 6
  • Peeled garlic 8 to 10 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Corn flour 2 tsp
  • Onion 1 big
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • half cup kasuri methi
  • Oil

For the tempering-

  • Desi Ghee
  • 5 to 6 cloves finely chopped garlic
  • Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
  • Dried red chillies 3 to 4
