Arhar Dal Recipe
Another name of Arhar Dal Recipe is Toor Daal. This dal is made in almost every Indian’s house. When you do not understand what to make today, then the option of dal is the best which can be prepared instantly. It is often made with rice, but it also tastes delicious with roti and paratha. If you add pickle, papad and salad along with it, the taste doubles.
Let’s see Arhar Dal Recipe –
Soak arhar dal and moong dal for 20 to 25 minutes. Add soaked dal, turmeric powder, bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, salt and water in the cooker and cook for one whistle. Turn off the gas before the second whistle. Pour water till the top of the dal.
When the gas comes out, open the cooker, add oil and ghee to the pan and add cumin seeds.
Add finely chopped onion and cumin (cut the onion into omelette). When it turns brown, add tomatoes and dried red chilli and stir well. Now add Kashmiri red chilli powder (if Kashmiri red chilli powder is not available then add normal chilli only), red chilli powder. Add coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, asafoetida and salt (add less salt while boiling the pulses) and fry the spices.
Once the masala is roasted, add finely chopped green chillies and lentils, add water as required and mix well.
To apply tadka, oil or ghee, when heated, grind it finely, add garlic and cumin seeds. When the garlic turns light brown, add Kashmiri red chillies, apply tadka to the dal. Chop green coriander and add it.

Dal Boiled –
- Pigeon pea (Toor dal) 1 cup
- Moong dal 1/4 cup
- bay leaf 2

Spices –
- cumin 1/2
- Onion 2 onions (finely chopped)
- Tomato 3
- Dry red chilli 2 to 3
- Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
- salt as per taste
- Turmeric 1/4 tsp
- Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
- Coriander Powder 2 tsp
- Finely chopped green chillies 2 to 3
- ghee or oil
