Rajma Recipe
Rajma Recipe – It is a Punjabi dish which is made by mixing onion, tomato, spices and kidney beans. First the kidney beans are melted well and then the spices are fried and added to it. This dish is especially eaten with rice, but people also like to eat it with roti, paratha and naan.
Let’s see Rajma Recipe –
Soak the Rajma 1 hour before, take about 2 tablespoons of oil in the cooker, add bay leaves, cloves, black pepper, cumin, small cardamom and salt. When the cumin seeds crackle, add the Rajma and water. Pour the water till the top of the Rajma and cover the cooker. After one whistle, reduce the gas flame for 10 to 12 minutes. Open the cooker and check whether the Rajma is cooked or not. If not, close the lid and keep it on the gas for some more time.
Grind tomatoes, cumin, black pepper, ginger, garlic, green coriander and cooked kidney beans (take 2 teaspoons of boiled kidney beans from the cooker) in a mixer grinder.
Grind the onion coarsely in a mixer grinder , add cumin seeds to 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan or pan, add the ground onion and fry for some time on low flame. When the color of the onion changes (light pink), add the ground masala and fry for 8 to 10 minutes. When it starts pouring, add some water, now add Kashmiri red chilli, turmeric, coriander powder and fry for some time.
When oil separates (if visible), add boiled Rajma and water of Rajma. If there is no water in Rajma, then add half cup of water and let it cook. Add garam masala on top. Take butter in a pan, add Kasuri methi, long chopped green chillies. Do this and add tempering to Rajma.
Add green coriander before serving. Tasty Rajma is ready.
Rajma Recipe Ingredients –
Boil it –
- Rajma 250 grams
- Bay leaf
- cloves 4 to 5
- black pepper 5 to 6
- small cardamom 3
- cumin 1/2 tsp
- salt as per taste
- oil 2 tbsp
For paste –
- Onion 2 tbsp (coarsely ground)
- Tomato 2
- green coriander
- Boiled Rajma 2 tsp
- ginger 1 inch
- 8 to 10 cloves of garlic
- black pepper 10 to 12
- cumin 1/2 tsp
Dry Masala –
- Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Salt as per taste (remember to add salt to Rajma at the time of boiling)
- turmeric 1/2 tsp
- coriander powder 2 tsp
- garam masala 1/2 tsp
For tempering –
- Butter
- Kasoori Methi 2 tsp
- Green chilli (cut lengthwise)
